This 1974 Porsche 911 Carrera Targa shows 74k miles and was purchased new from Palo Alto Porsche/Audi in California in 1975. It remained with the original owner until 2011 and was purchased by the current owner in 2013. Finished in Lime Green over Cinnamon, the car is sold with records that document over $40k in service conducted by the current owner, including a 2017 rebuild of the numbers-matching 2.7-liter flat-six and servicing of the 915 transaxle. A multi-point inspection was recently commissioned by the seller, and this 911 Carrera is now being offered on consignment with handwritten notes from the previous owner, a factory service booklet, recent records, a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, and a clean New Jersey title in the current owner’s name.

The Lime Green (N8) finish is believed by the seller to be original, and paint meter readings are shown in the gallery below. Note the ducktail spoiler and slim rear bumpettes, the latter a 1974-only feature for the US market.

The 15″ Fuchs wheels were refinished under the previous ownership by Al Reed and wear Michelin Primacy tires.

The cabin is trimmed in Cinnamon leatherette (31) upholstery and features Coco floor mats.

All instrumentation, controls, and accessories remain in working order per the seller. The odometer presently indicates 74,267 miles.

The numbers-matching 2.7-liter flat-six is mated to the original 915 transaxle. Service records totaling nearly $40k are included in the gallery and document a rebuild of the engine and servicing of the transaxle by Dawes Motorsports in 2017 that included:

  • New bearings
  • New Clevite rod bearings
  • New 90mm pistons, rings, pins, and clips
  • New intake and exhaust valves
  • New chain rails
  • Surface, line bore back to standard tolerances
  • Cylinders stripped and re-nikasiled
  • New valve guides and valve job
  • Disassemble and service transaxle
  • Install limited-slip differential

The car was serviced in 2018 with a fuel sending unit rebuild, new windshield washer pump, repair of the taillights and marker lights, and a multi-point inspection as shown in the gallery below.

Several engine parts were powder coated at the time of the rebuild. Ceramic coating was also applied to the exhaust components, including the Dansk Sport 911R-style muffler.
