This 1968 Ford Mustang Coupe was manufactured at Ford’s San Jose, California plant and acquired by the current owner about two years ago. It was originally equipped with a 200ci inline-six and manual transmission, though a rebuilt 289ci V8 has been installed within the past 1,000 miles. Power is sent to the rear wheels through an automatic transmission, and the seller reports that the brakes were replaced around the time of the new engine install. A repaint in red with black accents was performed roughly two years ago, and the car is also equipped with aftermarket wheels, an alarm, keyless entry, and a modern radio. A Marti report has been provided and the car is now being offered by a friend of the current owner with a clean California title.
This example was finished in Seafoam Green from the factory and was refinished in the current red about two years ago. Black hood stripes were added during the repaint and the seller notes that some scratches are present on the passenger-side lower quarter panel.
An aftermarket key-controlled hood lock system is present and can be activated from inside the car. Additionally, a set of chrome 5-spoke alloy wheels have been installed and are currently fitted with Defender Sport SR tires. The seller notes that some corrosion is present in the driver-side trunk area near the rear wheel well.
The interior features black vinyl bucket seats along with an aftermarket center console and a Grant 3-spoke steering wheel. The carpets have some discoloration visible and the horn button has been moved to the side of the steering column. Note that the factory clutch pedal and mechanism remain present in the cabin.
A modern JVC radio is present below the dashboard, and newer speakers are mounted in both the front footwells and on the rear package tray. Approximately 16,500 miles are shown on the odometer, although true mileage is unknown.
This car was originally equipped with a T-code 200ci inline-six and a manual transmission, though it has been converted to a 289ci V8 with an automatic transmission. The current engine is reportedly a rebuilt unit that was installed within the past 1,000 miles, and an aluminum radiator is visible in photos.
New brakes were installed during current ownership along with a new battery. Multiple undercarriage photos showing the condition of the undercarriage can be seen in the gallery.
A Marti report has been provided by the seller showing the original options and production information. Replacement Scott Drake Mustang emblems are included in the sale as shown in the gallery.
