This 1981 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 was purchased by a mechanical engineer in Colombia in 2008 who had the truck refurbished during his 15 years of ownership. The exterior was repainted, the interior was redone with new upholstery, a sound system was added, and a new soft top was fitted. The current seller acquired the truck in May 2017, and imported it to Georgia in March 2018. Power comes from a 4.2L 2F inline-six that has been updated with an electronic ignition, and serviced in preparation for sale with a new water pump, hoses, fuel filter, brake and coolant system flush, and an oil/filter change. Records from previous and current ownership are included along with importation paperwork. This FJ40 is currently insured and registered in Georgia, and is now being offered with a clean Georgia title in the seller’s name.
Originally finished in blue, the truck was repainted white by the previous owner. The seller has repainted a few areas of the exterior to address some chips and wear. New high-output headlights as well as new license plate lights have been recently installed. A Bestop classic soft top features a completely removable rear window, and factory hard doors are in place.
An 8,000 lb. WARN winch with new wireless module, remote, and protective cover has been attached to the front bumper. The stock 15″ steel wheels have been repainted grey and are fitted with BFGoodrich All Terrain T/A tires, though the rear-mounted spare wheel is shod with a period off-road tire.
Inside, the interior was recently refurbished with new vinyl upholstery in the split bench front seat. A working original glove compartment light remains in place, and a new interior dome light bulb was installed. The truck came from the factory with no heater or air conditioner.
Rear jump seats were also reupholstered, and all of the metal seat backs have been repainted. A Pioneer head unit was fitted to the dash, and two Pioneer speakers have been mounted in weather resistant boxes.
The 4.2L 2F inline-six engine is paired with a 4-speed manual transmission. An electronic ignition has been installed, and the seller has serviced the truck with a new water pump and hoses, flushed the brake system, and replaced the fuel filter and emergency brake mechanism. The truck was last serviced in February 2018 with a coolant flush and oil/filter change.
A rust preventive coating was applied to the undercarriage by the previous owner. Several photographs of the underside of the truck can be seen in the image gallery below.
