Mercedes-AMG hot hatch coming to Paris

Mercedes-Benz has just revealed two teaser images of their upcoming AMG-powered hot hatch: the A35.

The images show the aggressive front headlights and oh-so-sexy AMG badge, seen on a hot hatchback for the first time.

It must be said immediately: North America is not going to receive the five-door version of the A35, it’s for Europe only. However, we will see a sedan version, a rival to Audi’s S3 sedan.

The A35 has already been spotted lapping the Nurburgring, and spy photos there reveal the overall shape and some details, such as the A-Class-inspired headlights and round exhaust tips.

Being that this is just a teaser, Mercedes have not revealed many details about the A35 yet, but what we do know is that it will be powered by 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder, which, according to AMG boss Tobias Moers, will make “around 300 horsepower,” sent to all four wheels by Mercedes’ 4Matic all-wheel-drive.

The teaser also gives a hint as to what the launch colour will be, a slightly more gold version of Mercedes’ Solar Beam yellow found on other AMG vehicles.

The cheapest AMG will also come in A45 and A45S configurations, which’ll get you a cool “Panamericana” grill, quad exhaust tips, and a significant boost in power.

Expect to see the A35 revealed at the 2018 Paris Motors Show, where more details such as pricing and the release date will be given.
