Four years ago, Chevrolet announced the return of the Colorado. This popular midsize truck began immediately selling as soon as it hit dealers. Chevrolet says 428,792 Colorados have been sold in the United Stats since October 2014.
Chevrolet is expanding the lineup with two new special editions: an off-road Z71 Trail Runner and a street-based RST.
“The success of Colorado helped reignite the midsize truck segment, which increased 27 percent from 2015 to 2017,” said Sandor Piszar, director of marketing for Chevrolet Trucks. “It changed what customers expected from a midsize truck, brought new customers to Chevrolet and has inspired competitors to follow Chevy’s lead.”
Both special editions feature Chevrolet lettering on the grille, which was first introduced on the Bison. The street-model RST is based on the LT trim and adds a monochromatic exterior offset with black beltline and body-side moldings. A black bow tie was added to the tailgate with RST badges. The RST also comes with 20-inch low gloss black wheels.
The Z71 Trail Runner starts with the Z71 off-road package with an added ZR2 underbody protection. Changes include stamped-aluminum front and mid skidplates. The truck features Goodyear DuraTrac tires.
