BaT Auction: 1974 MG MGB at No Reserve

This 1974 MGB roadster has been with its current owner for 25 years and was parked a decade ago due to a medical issue. Finished in yellow and fitted with an aftermarket hard top, the car is powered by a 1.8-liter inline-four fitted with a Weber carburetor and paired with a 4-speed manual transmission. Recent work after 10 years of storage included adjustments to the valves, timing, and carburetor as well as replacement of the brake pads, wheel cylinders, clutch slave cylinder, and several body seals. This MGB is offered at no reserve by the selling dealer on behalf of its owner with a clean Oregon title.

The car was refinished 12 years ago in a non-stock shade of yellow over its previous paint according to the selling dealer. Chips can be seen on the door edges, and rust bubbles are visible in the “dog leg” panels behind both doors. The seller notes that many of the rubber seals and trim gaskets were recently replaced, but more will be required.

The car is fitted with an aftermarket fiberglass hardtop. The convertible top and frame are included but the frame is not mounted and the soft top is noted to be in poor condition. Painted knock-off wire wheels wear Headway tires.

The interior features replacement carpeting, a leather steering wheel wrap, a wood shift knob, and an older AM/FM cassette stereo. The seats wear tailored cloth seat covers from Moss Motors and feature 3-point seat belts. The 5-digit odometer shows 82k miles, of which 50k were added by the current owner.
