This 2005 Mercedes-Benz G55 AMG is one of 500 in the Grand Edition and was acquired by the seller 10 years ago from actor Laurence Fishburne. Powered by a supercharged 5.5-liter V8 mated to a 5-speed automatic transmission and 2-speed transfer case, this G55 is finished in Deep Black over black leather and features a chrome brush guard, heated front and rear seats, and 18″ AMG wheels. The seller has driven the truck 35k of its 43k indicated miles, and work in the last year included replacement of two window regulators, the thermostat, a front fender, and more. This G55 is offered with receipts, a Carfax report, a 2017 emissions certificate, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.
The exterior is finished in Deep Black and features a powered sunroof, chrome brush guard, tinted windows, stainless steel spare wheel cover, and polished side-exit exhaust tips. Receipts show that the front bumper and left front fender were replaced in October 2018. The Carfax lists a corresponding damage report, and a photo in the gallery shows the fender prior to the repair work.
A medallion on the passenger front fender identifies this as a G-Class Grand Edition and includes the slogan “A vehicle makes its way” in German. 18″ 5-spoke AMG wheels are mounted with Yokohama tires.
The interior is finished in black and features heated seats upholstered in leather with optional gray stitching and equipped with memory on both sides. The rear bench seat is also heated, and velour mats line the floor. The driver- and passenger-side rear window regulators have been replaced in the last two years. Maple wood trim is seen on the center console, heated steering wheel, shifter, and dash handle.
A plaque on the center console identifies this truck as #26 in the AMG Grand Edition. Instrumentation includes a 160 mph speedometer, a tachometer, and a digital odometer indicating 43,300 miles. Approximately 35k miles were added by the seller in 10 years of ownership. Buttons on the dash control locking of all three differentials in the 4-wheel drive system.
The supercharged 5.5-liter M113 V8 is mated to a 5-speed automatic transmission and 2-speed transfer case. Factory rated at 469 horsepower, the G55 AMG was capable of achieving 60 mph in 5.2 seconds according to period testing. This example received a new thermostat and water temperature sensor in January 2018 as well as an oil and filter change the following June.
The Carfax report shows the front-end damage in 2018. The truck last passed a California emissions test in January 2017.
