BaT Auction: 1996 Mercedes-Benz G320 Cabriolet

This 1996 Mercedes-Benz G320 is reportedly one of just a handful of 2-door short wheelbase cabriolets that were brought to the US by Europa G. Wagen LLC of Santa Fe, New Mexico. Power is from a 3.2-liter DOHC inline-six paired with a 4-speed automatic transmission, dual-range 4-wheel drive system, and three locking differentials. The current owner has added over 63k miles since acquiring the truck in 1997 shortly after it was imported, and a removable hardtop and canvas soft top are included. A Warn winch has been installed along with a bull bar and side steps. This G320 is now being offered on the current owner’s behalf with some service records, a clean Carfax report, and a clear Tennessee title.

The maroon finish is shown up close and from a number of angles in the gallery below. A minor ding is noted on the passenger door, and no accidents or other damage appear on the Carfax report.

A walk-around video is provided above. Exterior equipment includes side steps, a rear-mounted spare tire, a bull bar, a rear receiver hitch, and a Warn XK9000 winch. The black hardtop is removable, and a canvas soft top is included and pictured in the gallery. Factory 16” wheels wear Michelin LTX tires date-coded from 2012.

Black leather seats are joined by matching carpets and dark wood accents on the dash and doors. The truck features locking differentials, which can be activated via three switches located above the climate controls. The odometer failed over four years ago, and thus the 82k indicated miles are not accurate. According to the seller, the tachometer is intermittent, and some cracks are noted on the center console trim.

The swing-away spare tire carrier allows access to the fold-down tailgate.

Power is sent from the 3.2L inline-six to all four wheels through a 4-speed automatic transmission. An oil change was performed last year, and a handful of service records are included in the sale.

A provided Carfax report shows no issues from its first entry in 2000 and begins listing the current odometer reading of 82,072 miles in August 2014. A driving video is viewable below, and short drive-by videos can be seen here and here.
